Wijchen traffic noise reduction

WIJCHEN HISTORIC SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION FOR TRAFFIC NOISE REDUCTION IN ALVERNA, NETHERLANDS

This project was implemented in Alverna, a village near Wijchen in the Dutch province of Gelderland, to address the increasing traffic noise caused by a growing population and traffic volume on Graafseweg. Gelderland’s provincial authority collaborated with the Municipality of Wijchen, the DGMR engineering consultancy, local residents, and researchers from Radboud University Nijmegen to develop an approach that preserved the village’s character while reducing noise annoyance.
