Ellen Reid Soundwalk

ELLEN REID SOUNDWALK WAS FIRST LAUNCHED IN NEW YORK CITY AND HAS SINCE EXPANDED TO OTHER CITIES.

The Ellen Reid SOUNDWALK is a location-based audio experience that uses music and sound to create an immersive journey through different neighborhoods in participating cities. Initiated by composer Ellen Reid, the project was first launched in New York City in November 2019 and has since expanded to other cities.

INTERVENTION STRATEGIES

The Ellen Reid SOUNDWALK project employs a soundscape strategy that uses original music, field recordings, and sound effects to create an immersive sonic journey reflecting the distinctive character and history of each neighborhood. The aim is to transport the listener to various places and times, and establish a stronger connection to the environment by enhancing the sense of place [1].
